#JonathanFranzenHates

12 Mar

As soon as Jonathan Franzen declared his hatred for Twitter a few days ago, I couldn’t help but checking what Emperor Franzen had to say about it. Twitter is fun, to me, and I’ve come to like it a lot (while I remain annoyed by ebooks and still detest Facebook). Yet I’m thrilled about Jonathan Franzen going honest about the web his own way, it’s comforting. In fact, I completely agree with David Daley over there on Salon.

And now I’m going to tweet this right away.

Peapod

19 Feb

I found some Pantone pots for sale yesterday and bought a medium one in 14-6324 Peapod. Peapod was one of the colours for spring 2011, not the best spring ever, pollen-wise, but still better than 2010. Let’s try hard to improve further in 2012 and minimize allergy.

Pantone leading colour for 2012 is 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a colour I am completely unfamiliar with, I believe I never wore it once in my life, maybe I should try and it will be an exorcism against the pollen.

Metanarrative

So I created a Flavors account to group together my WordPress blog, my Tumblblog, my Twitter timeline, my Flickr page and Anobii shelf.
Tumblr was already twitting automatically, and so was Anobii. On WordPress there’s a twit button, the same on Flickr.

Kipple, you know.
I believe I’ll sit back and have a blueberry juice now.

I’m enjoying a long weekend, to celebrate the Autumn Equinox (I’ve decided I’m not counting birthdays anymore).

More about Lillian Browne

More about Sì, ma va bene per gli ebrei?

I’ve been cycling in the country (met a hoopoe), went to the cat shelter to say hi to the one-eyed Chartreux, went to Pistoia for Vargas’s Oracles, and I am reading two books, one is a graphic novel about Ireland by Italian Vanna Vinci, Lillian Browne, the other is a humorous book about Jewish culture by British Jonny Geller, Yes, But Is It Good For the Jews?.
I also bought some tickets for the upcoming VIEFestival, a local contemporary theater festival. I’m going to the see the work of a Hungarian artist in Chinese but with a French title and Italian subtitles (led), and the work of a Japanese artist, in Japanese, also with Italian subtitles.

Teatro de los Sentidos

I booked my slot for Enrique’s Vargas Oraculos in two weeks in Pistoia,  I can’t wait, I have my shoes off already.

Googling Enrique Vargas won’t help you much, as information about him and his work on the web is sparse. I wonder why. Maybe it has something to do with the sensory deprivation that is often involved with technological environments, or merely with a working day in IT.

Rose Is a Rose Is a Rose Is a Rose

28 Aug

A couple of weeks ago I visited the Jewish Contemporary Museum in San Francisco. I was very impressed by Leben? Oder Theater? by Charlotte Salamon, I enjoyed the Black Sabbath installation, and found the Five Stories about Gertrude Stein very interesting.
The problem is that since I visited the web site of the museum, Gertrude is constantly staring at me with her stern eyes. In fact, most web sites I’m visiting keep on showing the banner of that very exhibition.

I really need to empty the cookies folder.

Solstice

21 Dec

This morning Rafa the cat woke up at 5 am and meowed loud to go out (we close the cat door when we are below zero). We found it very strange, because normally during the winter Rafa the cat sleeps on us until breakfast time.
At 7 am I woke up to find a weird, dull light outside the window.
We had forgotten about the eclipse!

Around the same time, the Xmas event was starting on Dragon Cave. In the afternoon I was able to breed two Xmas eggs (only).
(again, for retro players)

Tuesday here.

HTML

1 Aug

So it seems WordPress is not supported by Anobii, this is a pity, isn’t it.
I tried Javascript but it didn’t work, while the provided HTML widget needed editing.

So this is just a plain good old fashioned link to what I’m reading today.
