I saw a number of empty seats last night at the Teatro Comunale in Modena for the Italian premiere of Le Sacre, the most recent work by Mauro Bigonzetti for Aterballetto, based on Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Primtemps, already a success in Baden Baden a few days ago at the Festspielehaus. The theater was supposed to be sold out, so I wonder where all those people were. Those who cared to come weren’t particularly elegant, nor generous (they appreciated the pas de deux in Come un respiro, though). I wasn’t shining either, and this time I’m blaming it on Singulair.
But Le Sacre was primeval, so powerful.
Vladimir Propp would have liked it.
