When I saw this painting by Pizzi Cannella at the Otto Gallery in Bologna it was raining outside. It has been raining since and before that it was either the light pollution or the regular pollution, so I haven’t been able to see a starry night in a long time, which is why I wanted to see the painting in the first place.
All this rain is not normal, even the goodyear welt of my old biker boots is starting to feel wet, but it’s welcome anyway. A colleague imagines the profile of a whale, slowly cruising outside the windows of the office, and narvals. I imagine the pond in front of my house to turn into a permanent duck pond.
