I adore Julianne Moore, so I routinely watch every movie she’s in, except I had managed to avoid Still Alice so far, because of the devastating subject. But now I’m happy I decided to see it at last, not only being it a remarkable movie of course, but also because it brought back a happy memory of the moment I first fell in love with Julianne Moore.

All those huge close-ups in Vanya on the 42nd street, I just couldn’t take my eyes off her. At some point my friend sitting next to me said, I can’t take my eyes off her. And that was it. The year was 1994, or probably 1995 since I remember the cinema and it was a second-run place.

I hadn’t thought about it in a very long time.
