The Extra

I throughout enjoyed reading The Extra by Abraham Yehoshua. The humour, the metaphors, the cities, even the reproductive obsession. Noga is an extra in her own life, since she decided not become a mother (but maybe there is still time). This is an extremely common opinion that you can hear basically everywhere, but at least Yehoshua made the effort to express it with remarkable literary value, and even some unexpected warm affection for his main character.

This is the cover of the Italian translation. See the woman, clearly colour-coded as still fertile, contemplating life.
